CAT | Torrents

Despite the domain being on sale for over a week, there has been no news or discussion on the final end to the once all-powerful BitTorrent site, Suprnova.org. Nobody even noticed, and if they did, they decided the news was not worthy or reporting to the world.

It was not always this way, once upon a time SuprNova was as much part of BitTorrent as the client itself, serving up torrents to 420,000 unique visitors a day. Without question, the site revolutionised the dynamics of internet traffic.

I was a huge fan of SuprNova back in the day, I even wrote some software to scrape RSS feeds from it. Regardless of its downfall/sellout I still think it deserves credit for expanding the Bittorrent revolution as far as it’s come.

The Family Man

As you’ll probably hear me say over and over I get really angry at how much american television sucks when I watch quality drama/comedy/sci-fi from the BBC.

Latest example:

The Family Man takes an engaging and thought-provoking look at the business of making babies in the 21st Century – a business which can make dreams come true.

It centres on the emotionally-charged stories of four couples who have all turned to Patrick for help, and his attempts to realise their dreams.

Over the years, passionate and principled Patrick has helped hundreds of couples to have babies of their own. In a sea of developing technologies and shifting ethical opinion, he believes that each couple’s case deserves to be judged individually and that blanket rules should not apply. It’s a belief which puts him at odds with many of his colleagues.
